Rules for safe cycling

  1. Be in the moment

Keep your phone on the side & eyes on the road: It’s tempting to check directions, reply to a message, or switch your song mid-ride, but your safest ride is a focused one.
Pro tip: Set your route and music before you start, or pull over on the side if you really need to check something. Besides, it's finally getting warmer out! There's no better way to enjoy it but to put your mind on your relaxing bike ride!

  2. Body talk

Use hand signals before you turn. On a bike, your body does all the talking. Clear hand signals will let others aroung you know what you’re about to do.
Pro tip: Signal early and confidently. Even a quick gesture gives others makes a difference.

  3. Pay attention

Be mindful of the one-way streets. It might seem harmless to take a shortcut against the flow, but riding the wrong way can catch others off guard and create awkward (and potentially risky) situations.
Pro tip: If a route feels confusing, slow down and take a second to read the street layout.

  4. Play it safe

Stop at the red lights to catch your breath and reset. Taking that moment helps you stay aware, reduces stress, and keeps your ride more enjoyable from start to finish.
Pro tip: Use stops to quickly scan your surroundings, check your map & safely plan your next move.

Provide awesome service

Safe cycling starts with a high-quality bike (or better still, an e-bike 😉) built for the city. At Swapfiets, we’ve always got your back. Book an appointment through the app and come on down for unlimited free check-ups and repairs. It usually takes us about 10–15 minutes to get everything sorted. If the damage is significant and we need more time to fix the bike, we'll swap it for another one.
