At Swapfiets, our mission has always been simple: to help make cities more liveable. We believe city streets should work better for everyday life, with mobility that feels simple, reliable and worry-free. And e-bikes have a major role to play in making that happen.
Today, we are taking an important step in that direction. Swapfiets is joining forces with Dance, bringing together two strong brands in European micro-mobility. Together, we will serve around 280,000 members across 45 cities like Paris, Amsterdam, London, Hamburg and Berlin
Why we’re better together
What happens when the world’s first bicycle-as-a-service company joins forces with a digital-first urban mobility brand? City riders get more choice, better service and easier access to high-quality e-bikes.
With Dance, more than 11,000 e-bikes will become part of our wider ecosystem. This strengthens our shared ambition: making it easier for people to choose cycling over driving, and helping cities become healthier, cleaner and more liveable.
At Swapfiets We have long admired what the Dance team has built. They have created a strong brand, well-designed products and a smooth digital experience that riders value. By combining Dance’s app-first approach with Swapfiets’ operational scale and service expertise, we can build an even stronger offer for urban riders.
Your bike, your choice
Swapfiets and Dance will continue as two distinct brands. This gives riders a clear choice in how they want to access their bike.
Swapfiets remains the ideal option for riders who value personal service and local support. With our physical stores, expert mechanics and iconic blue front tire, members can count on help whenever they need it.
Dance will continue to serve riders who prefer a fully digital, app-based experience. Its premium e-bikes and seamless customer journey make it a strong choice for flexible, stylish city travel.
As our CEO, Marc de Vries, says:
“By bringing Dance into the Swapfiets family, we are combining two of the most innovative teams in the industry to ensure that every bike rack in Europe’s major cities has a subscription bike in it.”
What’s next for the ride?
For current members, nothing changes. Your subscription, service and ride stay the same.
Dance CEO Christian Springub will continue to lead the Dance brand, ensuring continuity for its members and team. Over time, our teams will work together on better bikes, smarter digital features and an even stronger e-bike offering.
E-bikes will remain a key focus for us. They are one of the biggest opportunities to make urban travel easier, faster and more sustainable.
We are excited to welcome the Dance team and its community of riders to the Swapfiets family. Together, we are ready to help more people move through the city by bike. And to keep building more liveable cities across Europe.
